BEST HOMAGE TO THE RAT PACK

The Parkview Nite Club

It’s hard not to love the Parkview Nite Club. Tucked neatly on the end of West 58th in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, it’s got everything a bar needs: cheap food, a stable of oddly affecting regulars, pooi tables, and a good jukebox. Added to all this is an unex-pected touch of retro hipness: a big-ass pic-ture of Sammy, Dino, and Frank — drinking, smoking; laughing, and generally looking like they’re having much more fun than you ever will. It seems appropriate. Though the tuxes might be out of place, the Parkview is exactly the kind of place Frank and the boys would have appreciated. Maybe the name should be changed to the Ring-a-Ding Diner.
